Damara WA Pty Ltd: Background

Damara WA Pty Ltd is a niche consultancy established in January 2001, by Matt and Tim Eliot, to provide specialised strategic consulting, with a focus on systems thinking. Since then, Damara WA has successfully delivered more than 500 projects of varying size, providing specialist coastal and maritime advice to a wide client-base from government and industry for over 20 years, across Western Australia and internationally. We provide high quality technical expertise in the fields of coastal processes, coastal engineering, and geomorphology. We have an extensive record in development of key strategic documents for coastal and foreshore management, including SRT Best Management Practices for Foreshore Stabilisation (2009), WA Coastal Erosion Hotspots Assessment (2019) and WA Coastal Inundation Assessment (2023).

Recognising that most coastal projects are multi-disciplinary in nature and vary in scope, Damara WA have adopted an agile, collaborative approach. We are highly willing to collaborate and form a part of the best team for a particular project. Many of our long-term clients are larger consultancies, or smaller consultancies with an adjacent, complementary skill set, with whom we have had enduring partnerships. Since February 2012, Damara WA has been part of Seashore Engineering, an incorporated joint venture combining our staff and skills with those of Shore Coastal (est. 2007).

Damara WA has an extensive record in Western Australia, where our applied knowledge of coastal morphology, oceanography, maritime structures, and hydrology has supported more than 400 projects. Further to our regional presence, we have supported projects in UAE, Vietnam, Surinam, Panama, and United Kingdom, working hand-in-hand with local agencies, as we acknowledge the critical value of local knowledge for coastal projects. Our team have a strong understanding of structure interactions with coastal dynamics, and we incorporate this understanding into our designs to ensure engineering works are practical, cost-effective, and can function effectively over their intended life.
