Many assessments of coastal change rely on conceptual relationships between wave energy and coastal response, including the Bruun and Davidson-Arnott models. However, there are fewer representations of coastal dynamics active under low wave energy conditions and hence 'conventional' models may be unable to suitably identify risk. Areas where severe erosion has occurred under low wave energy conditions include the Guianas coast and west coast of Vietnam.
