This strategic assessment has been undertaken to help the Western Australian Government develop a strategic approach to challenges presented by coastal inundation hazards.
Evaluation of inundation hazard and asset exposure has identified the scale and extent of coastal inundation pressures across WA. This highlights that inundation impacts, while infrequent at most sites, can be substantial, with $10M-$100M damage possible at many townsites, mainly affecting residential dwellings. Most of the identified risk is associated with exceptional events, above typical standards of protection (100-500yr ARI).
